My 2018 Half-Year Highlights

by Matthew Thompson

With six months of 2018 in the bag already (plus a bit more now), I thought I’d take a look back at the high points of the year so far. Instead of doing one focused on just games or TV, I’ve decided to make this a catch-all post that will cover some of my other hobbies as well. Without further ado, here are my highlights from 2018’s first half Continue reading

My Five Favorite Albums of 2017

by Matthew Thompson

Music is a huge part of my life, but I don’t break it down in the same critical way I do games and TV, nor can I pretend to write about it in the same way. Still, I like to share some of my favorite music from the year every December and I’m here to do just that. Without further ado, here are my five favorite albums of 2017 Continue reading

My Favorite Concerts of 2016

by Matthew Thompson

I went to my first concert when I was in the fourth grade. My parents took my brother and I to go see Aerosmith. Ever since it feels like going to see bands play live has been a part of my life. Even so, I think my love of them had waned a bit in recent years. As I age, I don’t quite love being on my feet or standing in crowds for such long periods. I think it was Ra Ra Riot I saw there a few years back. We got there early before the floor really filled up and snagged a spot about ten feet or so from the stage Continue reading

The Best of the Rest in 2014

by Matthew Thompson

I’ve talked a ton about games and TV over the past couple of weeks, so I thought I’d take a quick look at some of my other favorites from 2014 in areas like music, books and so on. Here it goes Continue reading

My Music Highlights of 2013

by Matthew Thompson

Music is a big part of my life. It helps drive my workouts and keeps me company during long car rides and writing sessions. I am not however very adept at talking about music and why exactly it’s good like I am with say video games or TV. But I am going to talk about some of the music memories I had from 2013 anyway Continue reading
