More Things I Loved on TV in 2014

by Matthew Thompson

Last week I ran through my top ten shows of 2014 (check out Part 1 and Part 2 for yourself!), but that barely scratches the surface of all the great things on television in the past year. So I am here to talk about a bunch more things I loved this year. No real rules for this list other than not hitting any of the same shows I touched on in the top ten. In no particular order, here they are Continue reading

My Top Ten TV Shows of 2014: Part 2

by Matthew Thompson

I’m back to continue my look at the best 2014 had to offer. Today I will be finishing counting down my top ten TV shows of 2014 (if you missed the first half of the list you can see it here). Without further ado, here are my five favorite shows that aired in 2014 Continue reading

My Top Ten TV Shows of 2014: Part 1

by Matthew Thompson

2014 is coming to an end and that means it’s time to compile lists and hand out awards for our favorite things of the year! To kick things off, I’ll be counting down my ten favorite shows that aired in 2014. This is just the tip of iceberg though so look out for more about TV, games and other topics from 2014 throughout the rest of the month. I’ve decided to break the my top ten TV shows into two parts. So, here are ten through six Continue reading

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris Review

by Matthew Thompson

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light was such a pleasant surprise back in 2010. It even found itself on my best games of last-gen countdown. Equally surprising and pleasant was the announcement of a sequel to that game at this year’s E3 conference. I don’t think Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris tops its predecessor, but it is a nice follow-up that fans of the original will definitely enjoy Continue reading

Five Great Christmas-Themed Television Episodes

by Matthew Thompson

While there are quite a few great Halloween and Thanksgiving-themed TV episodes, neither holiday can compete with the sheer amount of quality Christmas episodes television has on offer. It was honestly tough to know where to start. So for this blog, I shied away from TV series that featured in October and November’s holiday posts (with one notable exception I just had to include) and I decided to stick to episodes within larger series as opposed to Christmas Specials (sorry Charlie Brown, Rudolph and the Grinch, I still love you guys too). Without further ado, here are five must-see Christmas-themed TV episodes Continue reading

Telltale’s Game of Thrones Episode 1 (Spoiler-Free) Review

by Matthew Thompson

(Other than some brief introductory information about the main characters of this game adaptation, I have kept this free of spoilers for the game, the TV show, and the books. Enjoy!)

Those that know me are aware I require a certain amount of engagement from a video game to really get into it. That means Telltale’s new style of adventure titles that eschew puzzles in favor of acting as interactive storytelling aren’t really for me. I can’t deny the quality of the narrative presented in their take on The Walking Dead, but the scant amount of gameplay means it isn’t exactly my thing. Still with my love of both the books and the TV show, I had to at least give their Game of Thrones adaptation a try Continue reading

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Eyes-On Impressions

by Matthew Thompson

My most anticipated game is always the next Naughty Dog title. So for me this weekend’s PlayStation Experience was all about getting our first real look at Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. UC4 was the first game demoed during Sony’s opening keynote and it was a very impressive way to kick off the show Continue reading

Takeaways: One Week to Go in College Football’s Regular Season

by Matthew Thompson

It has been a while since I have chimed in on the college football season. With the last set of rankings released by the committee before they choose who will be in the playoff, I thought I’d give some thoughts on where the season is at and how the new playoff system is shaping up Continue reading

LittleBigPlanet 3 Story Mode Impressions

by Matthew Thompson

I am in no way prepared to review LittleBigPlanet 3. I’ve yet to dig into Create mode or the community’s offerings, but I figured I’d drop in for some brief impressions of LBP3’s story mode Continue reading
